Lifelong Learning

learning

As the largest synagogue in Portland, Congregation Neveh Shalom takes seriously its responsibility to be the leading provider of Jewish educational program for all ages. Our beloved Foundation School has
served thousands of students in our community for over 50 years with early childhood education for children ages 2-5. Our K-12 education program also shines, enabling member families to begin and sustain
their children's Jewish and Hebrew education with a variety of unique and effective Saturday, Sunday and weekday programs, including our Bar/Bat Mitzvah program for sixth and seventh graders and Religious High School.

The new Kochavim program offers Hebrew language immersion and Jewish studies curriculum for children of pre-Hebrew School ages 4-7 while Notz'tzim is a tot-parent program using music and movement to introduce Hebrew language and Jewish themes.

Our Adult Education program is flourishing, with an enormous range of topics taught by our clergy team and professional staff, as well as visiting scholars - from beginning Hebrew and Shabbat skills to Talmud
study and the History of Israel. Neveh Shalom also is the local home of the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School, an Israel-based international network of community-based schools offering adults the chance to study Jewish beliefs and practices in a non-denominational setting.
